Living With Baby Loss

Talking Out Loud

As a charity, we are keen to do everything we can to break the taboo that still sits around baby loss. Baby loss affects so many people across the world every year. It is not selective or discriminatory in terms of the people it affects, and yet despite its tragically common occurrence, conversation around this subject area remains infrequent, and all too often, uncomfortable and fearful. Feeling unable to talk, unable to ask or just not knowing where to turn can lead to isolation, anxiety, depression and a complete loss of confidence, as well as breakdowns in friendships and relationships.

Through our monthly ‘Talking out Loud’ website publications and supporting podcasts, we want to provide individuals who have been affected by baby loss, and those who haven’t, as well as professionals who directly, or indirectly support people affected by baby loss, an opportunity to see, hear and talk about real stories and journeys of loss, and also of the specialist, focused support that is available for bereaved parents and families from individual professionals and organisations.

Each month Our Sam will publish stories from:

  • People connected with, and affected by baby loss
  • Support professionals talking about their roles, in their own words
  • Support organisations talking about the support they provide

If you would like to tell your story, talk about your role, or spotlight your support organisation, and support this with a podcast interview with our Founder, Philippa Davies, please email [email protected] putting ‘Talking out loud’ into the subject box.

  • Talking out loud
  • Parents and Families

Every month Our Sam provides a platform for someone to talk about their own experience of baby loss. This isn’t just for bereaved parents, but also their families and friends to talk about their experience of baby loss, the challenges they faced, how they managed to find a way to cope. You don’t have to be from the UK, we would love to hear from people across the world.

If you would like to talk out loud about your experience, just email [email protected] for more information including ‘Talking out loud – Parents and Families’ in the subject box.

  • Professionals

Every month Our Sam provides a platform for a professional, connected with supporting people affected by baby loss to talk about the job they do, in order to raise understanding about the people who are there to help anyone affected by baby loss.

If your job role includes supporting people affected by baby loss, as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death and you would like to tell us more about what you do, just email [email protected] for more information including ‘Talking out loud – Professionals’ in the subject box.

  • Spotlight on a Baby Loss Support Organisation

Every month Our Sam shines a spotlight on one organisation that supports people affected by baby loss, to raise awareness of the amazing support that is available for parents and families affected by baby loss.

If your organisation supports people affected by baby loss following miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death and you would like to tell us more about what you do, just email [email protected] including ‘Talking out loud – Spotlight Organisation Request’ in the subject box.
